Zero-Data-Retention (ZDR)
Zero-Data-Retention is an enterprise LLM tier where the vendor commits to not retaining your prompts or responses for training. Available on Anthropic Claude, OpenAI Enterprise, Azure OpenAI. Required for processing PII, PHI, or contract-sensitive data.

Standard API tiers may retain prompts/responses for 30 days for abuse monitoring. ZDR tiers don't retain at all. Important for: legal (privilege), finance (regulated data), healthcare (HIPAA), enterprise contracts with data-residency clauses. Cost is roughly the same per-token; gate is contractual + sometimes minimum-spend.
